Ordinary Time
Fifth Sunday after Trinity
Brothers and sisters,
This Sunday we hear again those comforting words from Jesus, 'Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'
Our lives, whilst filled with wonder and joy, can be difficult to bear at times. This is a part of what it is to be human, sadly; a symptom of our broken world. All of us will go through seasons of struggle, pain and sadness.
Bizarrely, it is not uncommon for some people to pull away from God and his Church at such time. But Jesus is very clear: all those who are weary and burdened by life should draw closer to him - 'Come to me'. After all, it is only in him Christ that we can truly find that rest for which the human soul so longs.
Every blessing,
Fr Myles
Rector
