Trinity Season
First Sunday after Trinity
This Sunday we recall Jesus’ healing of the man possessed by a “legion” of demons. On meeting with Jesus the demons are terrified, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?”
Famously, Jesus expels the demons, sending them into a herd of pigs who then charge down the hillside to drown in the lake below. The man is freed from his demons. No longer tormented, he is restored to life in his community.
In this demonstration of Christ’s power we see not only God’s desire to heal one man but also his power to restore dignity and community to us all.
Every blessing, Fr Myles, Rector
