~About St Clement's~

Ordinary Time
Advent Sunday
Brothers and Sisters,
Advent is a season of preparation during which we are encouraged to ‘Keep awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.’
As every child knows, Advent is the countdown to Christmas. But the season is not only a preparation for the remembrance of his birth, it is also an opportunity for us to prepare for his return in glory.
This Sunday’s gospel reading tells of the need to be ready for the coming of the Son of Man, that apocalyptic title given to Jesus as he returns at an unexpected hour to judge the living and the dead.
This Advent, amidst the premature jingle of bells and Christmas carols, let us not lose sight of the season’s true meaning. ‘Keep awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.’

Every blessing,
